5 Standout Epoxy Resin Projects in Brisbane Homes

The best way to demonstrate what epoxy flooring can do for your Brisbane home is with real-life examples. This article showcases projects where homeowners have successfully transformed their living spaces with epoxy resin flooring. It demonstrates style, function, and how we overcome obstacles.

Project #1: How we salvaged an epoxy floor in Hawthorne

Sometimes, the best results come from fixing a project where poor execution is evident on the first time. Below is an epoxy floor project in the garage and cellar at our Hawthorne home project that left the homeowner disappointed with several initial attempts. Following an in-depth phone conversation and a site visit, we decided there was no alternative except to redo the surfaces.

Our team carefully assessed the existing floor and found that removing the previous epoxy application would risk damaging some of the concrete underneath, particularly around the steps leading to the cellar, as this area was particularly brittle. Using the right tools and a refined approach, we stripped back the coating, performed multiple grinding passes with different diamond grits, repaired the steps one by one with resinous products & applied a quality primer to gain some strength back in the substrate.

The final finish was exactly what the client was originally looking for; a fit for purpose, durable epoxy coating topped with a UV-stable polyurethane for added protection.

This project is a firm reminder that expert application matters, and that with the right team, it’s possible to turn a disappointing result into a standout success.

Project #2: Smart design overcomes steep challenges in Mansfield

When a Mansfield homeowner tried to apply an epoxy coating to their under-house floor, the results didn’t hold up—sections began lifting soon after. Looking for a more durable, professional finish that would also enhance the space’s usability, they reached out to us for guidance. This became our Mansfield project.

The challenge was immediate. Not only was the ceiling below legal height, but the floor was so steeply sloped that even standing on it felt disorienting. Levelling it would require major work and cost, so the team proposed a clever visual solution instead.

We stripped back the original coating and started fresh. We also chose a light-coloured base with a soft flake blend to counteract the optical effects of the slope. This flake finish helped ‘visually’ flatten the surface and made the space appear more even. The light tones also created a brighter, more open feel without changing the actual footprint.

The result? A cleaner, much more appealing under-house area that they leased out just one week after project completion. This project is proof that smart design can overcome structural limitations.

Project #3: Turning a tiled home Into an epoxy masterpiece

Following a successful first project, the Yarrabilba homeowners returned to us with a new vision: to transform their entire interior with epoxy flooring. This became our Yarrabilba interior flooring project. They loved the seamless, modern look of epoxy so much that they chose to coat over their existing tiled floors—extending the upgrade across the living areas, two bathrooms, and a toilet.

Full-house epoxy installations come with unique challenges. For instance, you need to consider scheduling and curing time. To ensure a flawless result, the clients vacated the home during the process, allowing our team to prepare thoroughly and apply the Refined Blend epoxy coating without interruption.

This approach guarantees the coating completely cures and allows time for post-installation cleaning and the arrival of new furniture as part of the home’s overall update. Upon returning, the owners found their new floors were not only ready to walk on, but also visually transformed their entire living space.

The result was a durable, low-maintenance surface that unified the interior with a modern, polished look. This project proves epoxy isn’t just for garages or outdoor areas. It can completely reinvent the inside of a home too.

Project #4: Reviving a 1960s warehouse floor in Coorparoo

Tasked with turning a 1960s Coorparoo ex mechanical workshop into a commercial showroom, the owner needed a floor that combined durability with visual impact. The original concrete slab was in poor condition — worn, uneven, and missing large sections — making it unsuitable for a high-traffic, client-facing space.

Although a builder had re-poured part of the floor, the result varied from 20mm to 75mm in thickness, creating potential curing and adhesion issues. After grinding and patching, our team returned to find small areas of delamination in the patched zones. Before continuing, they investigated the cause, considering factors like product timing, floor contamination, or even inherent concrete issues.

After a second round of patching was successful, the team completed the job with a full epoxy system of priming, coating, and finishing to a professional standard.

The final result was a showroom-ready surface with lasting appeal. This project also gave our team valuable insights regarding our ongoing process of documenting and solving on-site challenges.

Project #5: Fixing a failed slab in New Farm

A residential renovation in New Farm came with a tight deadline and an unexpected twist. The builder engaged us to install an epoxy flake system across two adjacent double garages — one with an old slab, the other newly poured.

At first, everything went to plan. The older slab responded well to surface preparation and coating. But as we began grinding the new concrete, we uncovered a problem: the slab was structurally weak. The grinder pulled up loose fines and revealed soft, unstable material beneath the surface. Clear signs of a concrete pour that possibly had its own set of challenges.

With no room in the renovation budget for full remediation, we proceeded as best we could. But within months, the coating on the new slab began to fail.

The builder returned to us, and this time we worked directly with the homeowner to make it right. We stripped the failed coating, primed the surface with a high-penetration epoxy system, and restored strength with an epoxy-sand rebuild before reapplying the full flake system and UV-stable polyurethane topcoat.

Side by side, the two garages told a clear story about the importance of slab integrity. We walked the client through the differences, and even brought in a concrete expert to confirm our findings. Three months later, the repaired floor remained flawless and the client couldn’t have been happier.
